Pride and Prejudice Book Tag

Hey y’all! So I was kinda-sorta tagged by journeyintobooks (thanks!) because I saw this tag on her blog and was like, “this is amazing; I love Pride and Prejudice!” and she said I could do it. So kinda tagged, but not officially.

I’ve been a fan of Pride and Prejudice (and Mr. Darcy) for almost three years, and I really ought to reread it soon. This tag is super fun and I’m excited to do it!

While Mr Bennet silently reads in his study, and Mrs Bennet’s tales of woe can be heard from miles away, you spend a lovely afternoon in the garden with your dramatic and doting sisters. What is a favourite novel of yours that features a strong sibling relationship?

Azalea and her sisters are really close, and it’s one of my favorite elements of the story. The conversations between the Wentworth girls are thoroughly entertaining and it’s cool to see the sister relationship.

You and Mary have decided to walk to the bookshop in Meryton to search for the newest releases. Which book or books are you likely to purchase?

I’ve been waiting for this book, and it’s finally out! I may wait for it to come to the library, but this book sounds amazing!

Netherfield Park has been let at last, and the owner, a Mr Charles Bingley, hosts a magnificent ball at his new estate. What fictional ball gown would you wear?

Ah, ball gowns… I adore poofy dresses. But for this, I have to say Katniss Everdeen’s Mockingjay dress from Catching Fire. It’s not exactly a “ball gown”, but it’s beautiful and symbolizes a lot.

It is the Christmas ball and Mary has asked you to join her at the piano. What music would you choose as an accompaniment to your current book?

I’m reading Red Queen right now (and trying to decide if I like it or not), but I just finished Two Summers by Aimee Friedman and it was amazing! There’s a line in the book about Summer passing a shop and hearing French hip-hop, and I’m pretty sure I started singing a Zaho song right then, so “La Roue Tourne” by Zaho ft. Tunisiano.

You’re helping Jane take care of her younger cousins whilst staying with the Gardiners. Which fictional children would you include in your own family?

I’d love Azalea’s sisters to be part of my family, especially Bramble and Clover. And Prim from The Hunger Games.

It’s a sombre evening at Hunsford Parsonage, and after dinner, Mr Collins stands by the fireplace and quotes from the Good Book while the party tries not to yawn too obviously. What is a memorable quote from a novel that has always stuck with you?

There are a lot of quotes that I love. To name a few:

You cannot change your journey if you are unwilling to move at all.

Ally Condie, Reached

Don’t be afraid of death, be afraid of an unlived life. You don’t have to live forever, you just have to live.

Natalie Babbit, Tuck Everlasting (which I haven’t read yet, but I love this quote.)

Libraries were full of ideas- perhaps the most dangerous and powerful of all weapons.

Sarah J. Maas, Throne of Glass

Do you always focus on what you’re giving up, rather than what you’ll be gaining? Some things are worth pursuit regardless of the cost.

Stephanie Garber, Caraval

You’ve been invited to dine at Rosings Park by none other than the infamous Lady Catherine de Bourg, but the evening ends in disaster as the pompous Lady insults you and your family. Who’s your favourite fictional villain?

Keeper from Entwined. It’s really not a secret he’s one of my fictional crushes, and the only villain on the list. He’s just so smooth and charming.

As Lydia has gone down to Brighton with the Forsters, and Elizabeth is off on her jaunt to Derbyshire with the Gardiners, you also want to go away for a quick break. Which fictional location would be your perfect holiday destination?

inkworld-trilogy

The InkWorld. It’s beautiful.

And I think I’d love to vacation to The Capitol from The Hunger Games, just to see all the clothes.

You’re running to the fine horse chestnut tree on the green to encounter some of your favourite childhood reading memories. What is one that you remember most fondly?

I was eight years old and reading The Hobbit in the car. My mom had to scream at me to get my attention, I was so engrossed in it.

You’re on a tour of Pemberley and you come across Mr Fitzwilliam Darcy emerging from the pond, scandalously clad in only his wet underdrawers and shirt. You can’t help but swoon at the sight. Aside from Mr Darcy, who is your favourite romantic interest?

Oh dear, if it was me in that situation, I’d probably have looked away quickly because…

My favorite love interest…

Peeta? Jacques? Carswell Thorne?

You get the idea- I can’t pick just one.

Who’s your favorite fictional love interest?

  1. THORNE. ❤ I don't think we can make a tag without mentioning that man. XD And you totally reminded me again that I desperately need to read Entwined. And I super want to read Because You Love to Hate Me, too. So many good authors. Wonderful tag, Clara, and thanks so much for tagging me! 🙂

    1. Fictional people just feel as real as well, real people to me. And it’s not that I pick up a book and go, “ooh! I’m going to have a crush on one of these characters!”. It just happens.

  2. Hmm, ok, whenever I start to feel a crush coming on, I give myself the “mental slap”, slap myself out of it. Sometimes even non-mental slap too.
To be honest, I think crushes are annoying.
    Always getting in the way.
Book crushes are probably better than real ones from what i can imagine.

    1. My non-fictional crush (which is officially, admitted-it-to-myself, only one) worked out well and I’ve never wished I didn’t like this person. I love talking to him and although we’ve told each other that we like each other, we’re just friends right now and that’s good with both of us.
Book crushes aren’t half as complicated. Seriously.
