Happy Valentine’s Day! So, some of us (myself included) are single (I ain’t got time for boys, anyway, unless they’re fictional) and will not be going out tonight. Why not read a book? YA books are loaded with wonderful romances, and here’s just a few.
Yes, this is technically a Christmas story, but if you like sweet, light romances, this is a must-read. It’s short and impossible to put down- perfect for an evening in.
If you like a bit of magic and dancing with your romance, this trilogy is perfect. Each book is a quick, easy read, and they all have romantic elements. (Entwined is another good one, BTW.)
Fond of a totalitarian government with your forbidden love? You’ve got to read Matched.
If you love foreign culture, Written in the Stars is perfect. It’s a lovely story of one girl’s escape from her tyrannical parents who throw her into a marriage she doesn’t want. With echoes of Rapunzel, it’s a marvelous book.
Historical fiction? Melanie Dickerson’s medieval fairy-tale retellings are stunning.
If you’re a Marvel fan and you haven’t read this, you absolutely must. Romance is a small factor, yet it’s done well and this book is fast-paced and epic.
There you go! I will be re-visiting my newest OTP, Everlark, in whatever way possible this evening. So, for me, it’s Katniss-and-Peeta Day.
(Although, to be honest, it’s not really “re-visiting”. I’ve been unable to do anything without referencing those books, and I’m constantly thinking of these two.)
Anyway, have a wonderful Valentine’s Day evening!
